Making music needs no connection: playing, recording, mixing and exporting all work offline. The DAW asks for a free account on first run, and you can skip it. It keeps working offline, and it keeps working if this company disappears.

A real engine

Lock-free audio thread, sample-accurate MIDI, beat-based timeline, looping that does not drift, and an offline bounce to 24-bit WAV through the same render path as playback.

29 built-in devices

Synths, drum machines, samplers, an eight-band EQ with its own editor, dynamics with sidechain input, delays, spectral effects, an analyser and a scope.

Your own plugins

VST3 and Audio Unit hosting, instruments and effects, per track and in order — with plugin delay compensation, so a latent plugin does not push a track late.

Arrangement and session

A timeline to arrange and a clip grid to play, a piano roll with scale highlighting, comping, warped audio, automation lanes, and audio turned into MIDI.

co-song is separate, and it is $10

co-song is a VST3 and an Audio Unit, and it is its own product: it runs in Ableton, Logic, FL Studio, Bitwig, Reaper and anything else that loads a plugin, as well as in this DAW. It installs into your own plugin folder — never the system one, so it never asks for an administrator password.

It writes parts in your key, designs a sound from a sentence, sings in your voice and turns a finished record back into MIDI.

It installs as two plugins, both covered by the one purchase. co-song audio is the effect: on your group bus it hears the whole record and fixes it, and on an empty audio track of its own it makes a part you can arm and record. co-song midi is the instrument, on a channel of its own, and what it writes lands as notes.

Not per machine and not per month. The account is the licence, so the laptop, the studio machine and the one you are borrowing are all covered by the same payment — four linked at a time, and you can unlink one yourself. There is nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.

The compute is charged on top, unchanged: what a generation actually cost us plus 50%, against a monthly limit you set that stops work rather than invoicing you past it. The $10 buys the plugin, not the GPU time.

Can I download it right now?

No, and the reason has changed: the builds are finished and the tests pass, but nothing is published until the owner has signed it off on real output — a run through of everything working, and audio of what co-song made and remixed with the ethereal track. That is a decision rather than a gap. When it lifts, the files will be at song.money/download. No date is promised here, because a date on a page is a promise and this one has not been made.

Why can I buy co-song if I cannot download it?

Because the two are separate and only one of them is held. The $10 buys a licence on your account — not per machine, not per month, nothing to renew — and the account is what the plugin links to whenever you do install it. It is said in plain sight on the page rather than discovered after paying, and if you would rather wait until there is a file to install, wait: the price is the same either way.

Is co-song included with the DAW?

No, not any more. The DAW is free and complete on its own and always will be; co-song is a separate plugin that costs $10 once. It used to be bundled with a free day attached, and both the bundle and the free day are withdrawn — nothing is given away twice, and a plugin that works for a day and then stops is remembered as the one that stopped working.

Is co-song one plugin or two?

Two, and one purchase covers both. co-song audio is the effect: put it on a group with the whole song routed into it and it hears the record and fixes it, and put a second one alone on an empty audio track and it makes a part instead - the track has nothing on it, so what comes out is only what co-song made, which is how you arm it and record it. co-song midi is the instrument: it goes on a MIDI channel of its own and what it writes lands as notes. A group is a bus, so it records nothing and there is nothing to arm there; that is why the second placement exists. song.money/co-song/guide has the exact route for each DAW.

Can you email me when it is ready?

No, and not because we can't be bothered: song.money sends no email at all, to anybody, ever. There is no mailing list to join and no notification to switch on. Bookmark the page instead.

Is the DAW really free?

Yes, and there is no paid version of it. No track limit, no watermark on an export, no feature behind a login and no AI required to make a record. What costs money is the AI and the cloud around it — co-song, generated video, generated songs — which are separate products.

Do I need an account to use it?

Not to make music. Playing, recording, mixing and exporting all work with no connection at all, and a project you made is yours whatever happens to this company. The DAW does ask for a free song.money account the first time it opens — that account is what carries your co-song licence, Live Sessions and anything you release — and you can skip it and carry on. Nothing about making a record is behind it.

What does co-song cost to run?

The plugin is $10, once. No. Only macOS is built, signed and tested today. The macOS build is universal: one file, native on both Apple Silicon and Intel, needing macOS 10.15 Catalina or later.
